The role
Based in Newcastle, this position plays a pivotal role part in securing optimal commercial and performance outcomes for mining operations and across Australia.
You will be responsible for:
- Develop and implement category strategies to optimise value, reduce costs and mitigate risks.
- Negotiate contracts and manage supplier relationships to drive cost-effective procurement solutions.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation within procurement function.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align procurement activities with broader organisational goals.
- Provide leadership to the procurement team to drive success and contribute to business growth and profitability.
- Continuously identify areas for improvement and drive ongoing enhancements in procurement practices.
- Ensure all procurement processes comply with relevant legislation and regulations.
About you
- A proven Category Management professional, mining experience not essential.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to achieve cost savings and efficiencies without sacrificing performance and results.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers.
- Collaborative approach to procurement, working with other internal departments to achieve outcomes.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills and the ability to engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
