ABOUT THE ROLE

In this newly created role, reporting to the HSEQ Manager, the Quality Controller will ensure all manufactured and repaired products meet specifications based on engineering drawings and the company’s quality standards. 

The Quality Controller will inspect products, internally and externally and will contribute to the continuous improvement of the company’s Quality Assurance and Quality Control to ensure products meet the expectations of customers.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assist the engineering team in developing ITP’s and other relevant inspection documentation / criteria to suit machine and sub-assembly builds and repairs.
  • Ensure accurate work instructions and inspection documentation is available and issued to the production team.
  • Ensure all inspection documentation is accurately completed by the production team.
  • Oversee and perform incoming, in-process and final inspections / checks as required.
  • Oversee machine Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) to ensure compliance by all personnel involved.
  • Ensure measuring equipment is calibrated and validated to established standards.
  • Monitor the company System Improvement Requests register (SIR’s) to analyse QA/QC issues, root cause analysis and corrective actions. Identify and communicate findings and trends to the business.
  • Liaise with and assist internal and external quality auditors as required.
  • Actively participate in workshop toolbox meetings, QMS meetings and other relevant company meetings as required.

ABOUT YOU

  • Mechanical Trade qualification (Certificate III or above).
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience working with Quality Systems (QA/QC), preferably within the engineering/manufacturing industry.
  • Mechanical aptitude, including ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001.
  • Sound working knowledge of Australian standards and codes.
  • High level computer literacy, including MS Office suite and ERP systems.
  • Weld inspection qualifications would be beneficial.
  • Proven time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, analytical and planning skills.
