The role
This newly created role represents a great opportunity for someone with strong construction experience looking to transition into a Safety/WHS position. Ongoing training, development, and support will be provided by the manager as you establish yourself in your new role.
You will be responsible for:
- Conducting site walks with construction teams across the Newcastle and Hunter region.
- Participating in daily toolbox talk, engaging with workers to identify and resolve issues.
- Participating in risk identification activities through inspections, incident investigations and providing thorough reports to all stakeholders.
- Reviewing and updating documentation including plans, SWMS, risks assessments and other relevant safety documentation.
- Assisting in the maintenance of records and preparation for ISO accreditation auditing.
About you
- Strong experience in the construction industry, either as a tradesperson, supervisor, or contracts administrator.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to work collaboratively with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
- A proven track record of identifying and mitigating risks on site.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor your message to suit the audience.
- Good knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations and standards.
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety
