This role is with a respected government entity located in the Hunter Valley, roughly 1 hour from Newcastle.
The role will work closely with the HR Manager, supporting the improvement of WHS systems which in turn will contribute to creating a zero-harm work environment while reducing administrative burden.

The role
You will be responsible for:
- Supporting the HR Manager in designing and implementing wellbeing and WHS systems that aid in the simplification of related processes and procedures.
- Provide WHS, injury management and return to work related support, advice, and training across the business, ensuring all employees are confident and compliant with WHS systems, processes, policies and reporting requirements.
- Encourage proactive identification of workplace hazards and incident investigation.
- Coordinate the reporting of incidents, near misses and hazards and ensure timely resolution of all issues that arise, through corrective action and continued monitoring.
- Manage all return-to-work related processes and facilitate the rehabilitation of injured workers in accordance with relevant legislation and workers compensation requirements.
- Facilitate and administer WHS education and training across the business ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.
- Provide support for emergency preparedness and response programs such as drills and evacuation procedures.
- Engage with external stakeholders and regulatory bodies such as SafeWork and StateCover.
- Actively assist in identifying areas for improvement within WHS and provide recommendations that facilitate change.
About you
You will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in WHS, paired with substantial WHS experience.
- Qualifications in RTW, auditing or other WHS related courses is advantageous.
- Experience in the development, implementation and use of WHS systems, processes, policies and related documentation.
- Experience delivering on the job WHS training.
- A solid knowledge and understanding of WHS legislation and regulations.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills with a strong eye for detail.
