Quality Assurance / Quality Control Inspector

About the opportunity 

Own the final quality check before equipment reaches the customer. In this role, you’ll manage inspections, documentation, and supplier engagement to ensure every product meets design, process, and quality standards. Acting as a critical final checkpoint, you’ll conduct inspections in-house and at supplier sites while assisting with continuous improvement to catch defects early. Reporting to the HSEQ Manager, you’ll collaborate closely with engineering, project delivery and workshop teams to drive consistency and continuous improvement. This role suits a detail-oriented team player with hands-on fabrication or maintenance experience who thrives on bridging the gap between office and workshop. 

Key responsibilities 

  • Assist the engineering team in developing Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and inspection documentation 
  • Ensure accurate work instructions and inspection criteria are issued and followed 
  • Oversee and perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections on components and assemblies 
  • Conduct and manage Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) processes to ensure full compliance 
  • Validate and maintain measuring equipment calibration records 
  • Document and follow up on non-conformances, root cause analysis, and corrective actions 
  • Support internal and external quality audits and contribute to continuous improvement discussions 
  • Participate in toolbox talks, QMS meetings, and cross-departmental reviews 
  • Visit supplier sites to review component quality and provide constructive feedback.

About you 

  • Mechanical trade qualification (Certificate III or higher) 
  • 3–5 years’ experience in QA/QC within an engineering or manufacturing environment 
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems 
  • Sound understanding of Australian standards and codes 
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications 
  • High-level computer literacy (MS Office & ERP systems) 
  • Experience with weld inspection highly desirable 
  • Excellent communication and time management skills 
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and planning capabilities 
  • A proactive, team-oriented approach with high attention to detail
